This work includes discussion of agricultural practices in each region visited, including methods of soil cultivation, the price of labour, and the state of the working poor.

Young is viewed as a major English writer on agriculture, and an early contributor to agricultural economics. He is also known as a social and political observer.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Rubbing to back strip head and tail, joints, and rear board perimeters. Joints starting, with boards firmly held. Armorial bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound, but with one leaf - page 79-80 - detached and loosely inserted. Light spotting to title page head, and to head of frontispiece. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, but clean.
