Voltaire was a prolific author, writing more than twenty-thousand letters during his life, as well as more than two-thousand books and pamphlets. This set contains a collection of his prose and non-fiction works. Voltaire was also a significant figure in French court of the eighteenth century, with his works being read by the likes of Madame de Pompadour. Translated and annotated by T. Francklin. Francklin was an English academic and clergyman, who was known for his writings for the press and stage. He also contributed to Tobias Smollett's 'Critical Review', and was the chaplain to the Royal Academy.
