Description
Leather Binding
Bound in full morocco leather with gilt lettering and decorative borders. Volume 2 only of 2 with 92 of the 180 plates contained in the complete two volume work. Includes a frontis showing Medusa Antique. The final plate shows Hercules fighting with a lion. "Thomas Worlidge (1700–1766) [was a] portrait painter and etcher [whose] last major project, his Select Collection of Drawings from Curious Antique Gems … Etched after the Manner of Rembrandt, [was] published in a collected form in 1768 after the artist's death.
Condition
Bound in full morocco leather with gilt lettering and decorative borders. There is only some mild wear to the extremities, with just some mild bumping, rubbing, and marks to the boards. The rear inner hinge is very slightly strained but still good and firm. The binding is tight and firm. Internally the pages have intermittent heavy spotting throughout, and very mild browning. Overall the condition is very good with a good only interior.
