James Boswell's account of his travels to Corsica.

Boswell spent seven weeks in Corsica during his Grand Tour. During this time he met the Corsican resistance leader Pasquale Paoli, leading the inclusion of a biographical piece of Paoli in this volume.

This work was part of Boswell's attempt to raise awareness and rally support for the Corsicans after the 1768 invasion by France.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, both boards are detached but present. Leather is rubbed, with some loss, heavier to the joints and extremities. Lacking the backstrip. Bumping to the extremities. Ink to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, binding is tender and strained in places, first two gatherings are held by one cord only. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots.
