Exploring Bacon's political ideas through his essays: 'State of Europe,' 'A Discourse in praise of Queen Elizabeth,' 'Observations on a Libel,' 'Report on Lopez's Treason,' &c. 

Title page in facsimile tipped in to a recto front leaf. With half title. 

Francis Bacon was an English philosopher and statesman who served as Attorney General and Lord Chancellor of England under King James I. He was called the father of empiricism, and is best remembered for his significant contributions to natural philosophy and the scientific method.

Condition

Rebound in full velvet with titles in gilt to cloth spine label, renewed plain endpapers. Externally very smart with light bumping to head and tail of spine, boards only lightly marked. Light spotting to first and last few leaves only, pages otherwise bright and clean.
