Leather Binding, Very Scarce
Complete in two volumes. A detailed historical account of the campaign of Adrien Maurice de Noailles, 3rd Duke of Noailles, a French nobleman and soldier during the War of Austrian Succession in 1743. Having previously distinguished himself in the War of Polish Succession, he was made a marshal of France in 1734. Serving the in the War of Austrian Succession, he was appointed to command the French forces in March 1743. Though defeated at the Battle of Dettingen, he and his forces successfully drove the Austrians out of Alsace-Lorraine.
Condition
Bound in full brown calf. Externally, smart with rubbing and wear to the extremities. Fading to the spine and marks to the boards. Minor loss to the head of the spine. A crack to the spine resulting in minor loss to the spine labels of volume one. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Light age toning to the first and last few pages.
