The first edition of this collection of testimonies of Quaker, published because 'the yearly-meeting directed the collecting and printing of such of these testimonies as were judged most likely to be of general benefit; which collection is here presented to the reader'.
A lengthy index to the start of the work details the names of the one hundred and twenty-six friends whose testimonies are included in this volume.
With the bookplate of lawyer and book collector David Slather to the front pastedown. To the front pastedown is also the inscription of the Friends of Bradford Meeting, with their inscription also to the head of the title page.

Condition
In a full calf binding. Rubbing to boards and back strip, with remnants of a paper label to the spine. Small loss of leather to back strip head and tail. Joints starting. Rear board firmly held, with front board tenderly held by one cord only. Bookplate and inscription to front pastedown. Lacking front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Inscription to head of title page. Pages lightly age toned with instances of spotting and handling marks throughout.
