Description

Illustrated, Leather Binding

Illustrated, with five folding plates.  Collated, complete.  With the final advertisement leaf for Cole, Senr and Junr. 

In a very smart, recent, full calf binding. The eighth edition of this work. 

Former owner's inscription to the head of the title page 'John Ussher.'  

ESTC reference no: T111556. 

This work is split into three sections: 'The Introduction: Containing a Brief Account of the Solar System, and of the Fixed Stars',  'The Description and Use of the Celestial and Terrestrial Globes', and 'The Description of the Orrery'. 

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, smart. Some minor shelf-wear to the joints. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Reinforcement to the outer margin of the second folding plate. Repairs to the head of the third folding plate, and to the centre of the second globe on the same plate. Repairs to the third folding plate at the bottom of the outer margin, affecting some of the image. Contemporary inscriptions to the margins of page 102, 104 correcting some of the measurements. Otherwise, just the odd spots.
