What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Leather Binding, Very Scarce

Volume I, parts I and II, of the very scarce first English language translation of French historian and philosopher Voltaire's 'Annales de L'Empire depuis Charlemagne', a historical study of Europe 'from Charlemain to Charles V'.

Volume I, parts I and II only of a three volume, VI part work. With a half title between parts I and II, and continuous pagination and register across both parts.

One of many historical works authored by Francois-Marie Arouet, better known as Voltaire, who was praised for his 'scrupulous concern for truths' in his historical works, and who here was recognised for his treatment of Europe as a whole, rather than a collection of nations.
