Originally published in fifty numbers between January and July 1721, this is the third edition of Amherst's work.

Amhurst, writing under the pseudonym of "Terrae-Filius," uses wit and humor to criticize various aspects of university life, including the academic curriculum, the social hierarchy, and the political and religious beliefs of the students and faculty.

With an advertisement leaf to the rear.

With an inscription to the head of the front free endpaper, and with a short biography of Amherst handwritten to the verso of the title page.

The work was considered highly offensive by many members of the university, which led to Amhurst being expelled from Oxford. Despite this, the work remained popular and influential, inspiring other satirical works and contributing to the development of the genre of literary satire.
