In the publisher's original cloth binding. 

The second edition, issued the same year as the first. 

Written by Samuel Warren, a British barrister, novelist and MP. 

Blind stamped bookseller's label to the verso of front endpaper, 'Jenvey Bookseller and Stationer Barnstaple'. 

Warren was greatly interested in morality and social reform. His novel 'Now and Then' is a social novel of criminality and the law. The novel was published a few years before this critical study.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Light spots to the boards. Minor bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional light spots to pages.
