A detailed numismatic work, looking into the historic coins of England and Scotland from the time of the conquest to the late eighteenth century.
The work was first published under the title 'Nummi Britannici Historia: or an Historical Account of English Money'.
Written by Stephen Martin Leake, the Clarenceux King of Arms and later the Garter Principal King of Arms. Leake was also a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London.
Bookplate of William Rodgerson to the front paste down, his ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally, rear board is detached but present, textblock broken after page 291. Leather is a little rubbed. Loss to the head and tail of the spine, heavier loss to the tail. Front joint is cracked. Large crack to the spine. Bookplate to the front paste down. Ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Pencil notes to the rear endpaper and rear paste down. Internally, binding is broken between pages 290 and 291. Pages are age-toned with some spots.
