First Edition, Very Scarce

The first edition of this very scarce work.

This volume concerns the unsuccessful Royal Navy 1741 attack on Cartagena, in Colombia, a battle which took place during the War of Jenkins's Ear.

Edward Vernon, with the naval forces, forced his way into the harbour, but the irresolution and delay of Thomas Wentworth and the military led to the failure of the expedition, and loss of over half the landing force through sickness.
