This volume includes ten sermons, preaching on the duty of family religion, the sin of swearing, self-denial, religious society, and more.
Whitefield was one of the founders of Methodism and the evangelical movement. He received widespread recognition, preaching and being read widely across Britain and America. The year after this publication Whitefield travelled across North America and became part of the "Great Awakening".

Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title page.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally, rubbed. Light bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the tail of the spine. Joints are cracked, heavier to the head and tail. Rubbing has resulted in loss of leather to the boards and extremities. Light surface cracks to the spine. Hinges are starting but firm. Bookplate and ink inscription to the front paste down. Small closed tear to the front endpaper. Spots to the paste downs and endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned with scattered spotting.
