With an engraved frontispiece to the first volume and engraved title page vignettes to all volumes. The third edition of this work, in the original French. With half-title to vols II, III and V. Half title to volume V states 'Tome II'. End of vol V states 'Fin de Tome II'. The final leaf of vol IV states 'fin de Tome I'. These five volumes are the observations the Baron of Pollnitz made during his late travels from Prussia through Germany, Italy, France, Holland, England and more. They are told through his letters to his friends and notable members in various courts. Charles-Lewis, Baron de Pollnitz, otherwise known as Karl Ludwig Freiherr von Pollnitz, was a German adventurer and writer from Issum. His memoirs give a great insight into interesting people in his life and his travels. A well preserved eighteenth century copy of this fascinating travel work.

Condition

In a quarter calf binding with marbled paper boards. Rebound. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are generally bright with just the odd spots. Page 130 to vol III is misprinted as 330 as called for.
