In a lovely full calf signed binding from Fazakerley, Liverpool.
The complete thirty-seven plates of volume I of Thomas Wotton's very scarce three volume 1727 reference work on genealogy and heraldry. Providing engravings of the arms of the baronets created by King James I and King Charles I, including Sir Edmund Bacon of Garboldisham and John Harpur of Calke.
Each of the thirty-seven copper engraved plates are hand coloured by a prior owner.
Lacking the title page and text leaves. Retaining the original engraved half title.
With original paper wraps bound in to front and rear, and contemporary inscriptions to recto of rear wrap.

William Holman and Thornhaugh Gurdon both aided Thomas Wotton in the creation of this work, placing their extensive libraries at his disposal for the research of this impressively detailed account of the baronetage.
Condition
In a full calf signed binding. Externally, lovely, with a touch of fading to back strip. Original paper wraps bound in to front and rear. Contemporary inscriptions to recto of rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned, with handling marks throughout. Each leaf hand coloured by a prior owner.
