The very scarce sixth edition of this work, scarce in all eighteenth century editions.

First published in 1669, Italian Conventual Franciscan philosopher and theologian Bartholomew Mastrius presents an understanding of moral theology in the seventeenth century.

Retaining the original half title.

With the collation: [2], $3-8, $$8, A-3A8. Complete.

With the stamp of the library of the 'Ecclesiae Metropolitanae Westmonasteriensis', or the 'Metropolitan Church of Westminster' to the tail of the title page, and no further library markings.

Providing insight into Renaissance theology and philosophy, Mastrius's work touches on topics including law in times of war, jurisprudence, and many other matters of moral theology.

Condition

In paper vellum wraps, with handwritten title label to spine. Significant discolouration and residue to wraps, most concentrated at back strip and wrap perimeters. With only one of four original ties present. Closed tear to head of back strip, at front joint. Significant closed tear to front pastedown, resulting in text block detaching from binding. Internally, firmly bound. Discolouration to perimeters of title page and half title, with pages otherwise generally clean and bright. Library stamp to tail of title page.
