Complete in thirteen volumes. Volumes I-X were published in 1717. Volumes XI-XIII were published in 1728. These last three volumes look at the reigns of Louis XIII and Louis XIV. An extended and annotated edition of Mezeray's famous 'Abrege Chronologique de l'Histoire de France'. The work was original published in three volumes in 1667-8. The work looks in depth into the origins and history of France, looking in detail into the French monarchs of history. Volume XI contains a life of Mezeray. Volume II illustrated with six vignettes. Volume III illustrated with nineteen vignettes. Volume IV illustrated with ten vignettes. Volume V illustrated with nine vignettes. Volume VI illustrated with four vignettes. Volume VII illustrated with three vignettes. Volume VIII illustrated with three vignettes. Volume IX illustrated with two vignettes. Volume XI illustrated with a frontispiece. Volume XII illustrated with a frontispiece. Written by Francois Eudes de Mezeray, a French historian. Mezeray is well known for this work, as well as for his other three volume work titled 'Histoire de France'. Volume II appears to have uncomplete vignettes to pages 284, 296, 290, 296, and 304, as does page 143 in Volume III

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the boards and spines. Heavier marks to the front boards of Volumes III and V. A little bumping to the extremities. Small amount of loss to the head of spine III. Rear hinge of Volume I is starting but firm. Marks to the endpapers. Front hinge of Volumes III and V are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with some marks and spots. The last leaf of Volume I is detached but present. Volume II appears to have uncomplete vignettes to pages 284, 296, 290, 296, and 304, as does page 143 in Volume III
