The new, enlarged edition of this exciting eighteenth century set comprising the works by the French dramatist Thomas Corneille, in the original French language. Complete in five volume. 

With various plays, each accompanied by a beautiful engraving. Collated, complete with thirty four illustrations. 

Volume one with 'Eloges de M Th Corneille,' by various authors, a pastoral 'Le Berger Extr,' and five comedies: 'Les Engagement du Haz;' 'Le Feint Astrologue;' 'D Bertrands de Cigarral;' 'L'Amour a la Mode;' and 'La Charme de la Voix.'

Volume two with two comedies, 'Le Geolier de Soy-Me'me,' and 'Les Illustres Ennemis,' as well as five tragedies: 'Timocrate;' 'Berenice;' 'Le Mort de l'Emp. Commode;' 'Darius;' and 'Stilicon.' 

Volume three with one comedy, 'Le Galand Double,' and five tragedies: 'Camma;' 'Maximian;' 'Pyrrhus, Roi d'Epire;' 'Perse'e et Demetrius;' and 'Antiochus.' 

Volume four with four tragedies: 'Laodice;' 'La Mort d'Annibal;' 'Theodat;' and 'Ariane.' And three comedies, 'Le Baron d'Albicrac;' 'La Comtesse d'Orgueil;' and 'Le Festin du Pierre.' 

Volume five with three tragedies: 'La Mort d'Achille;' 'Le Comte d'Essex;' and 'Bradamante;' two comedies: 'D. Cesar d'Avalos' and 'L'Inconnu.' As well as a new prologue for the tragedy of Circe, and new prologue for 'L'Inconnu,' and a speech delivered at the French Academy during the reception of Thomas Corneille. 

Condition

In full calf contemporary binding. Externally sound with slight scuffings and rubbings to the spine and the extremities, as well as slight shelf wear and edge wear. Baggrave Library bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are generally clean throughout with the faint odd spot to the occasional leaf. Illustrated with a frontispiece per piece in each volume, for a total of thirty four engravings. Collated, complete.
