'De iure belli ac pacis' or 'On the Law of War and Peace' was first issued in 1625 and regards the legal status of war. He began writing this work whilst incarcerated in the Netherlands and completed it in 1623. The work was dedicated to Louis XIII of France. Grotius' writings have contributed significantly to the notion of rights.
Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece and title page. With the main title page in red and black.

In a contemporary panelled calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the boards and spine. Small loss to the head and tail of spine. Crease to the spine from the head to the tail. Hinges are slightly strained but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Occasional light spots to pages.
