The first edition of this work, which follows from Disney's 1708 work 'An Essay upon the Execution of the Laws against Immorality and Prophaneness'. Vanishingly scarce. ESTC No: T139702 Written by John Disney, an English clergyman. Disney was the first of four John Disneys. His great-grandson John Disney was a noted barrister and antiquarian. Disney originally entered the Middle Temple to study law, but with no intention of practising at the bar. He became a competent magistrate, and used this knowledge for this work. With the signatures: A4, A-Q8. One leaf of publisher's adverts to the rear. Tightly bound, in marbled boards. Collated, complete with the initial leaf of advertisement to the reader and a final advertisement leaf.
Condition
In marbled boards. Externally, very smart. Slight split to the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Light scattered spots, mostly contained to the first and last few pages.
