'A New View of London' is a detailed survey of London, undertaken not long after the Great Fire of London in 1666.

This volume contains parts I and II of VIII, containing the names of the streets, squares, lanes, markets, courts, and more, and a detailed description of the churches, their names, foundation, order of buildings, ornament, and more.

The work was originally prepared during the 1680s and 1690s, but by the time it was due to be published, a supplement was required to bring the work up to date.

Though the work seems like a simple directory, the work is incredibly detailed, with information on the colour of lawyers robes, the weekly rations of children working in workhouses, and the costs and times of delivery of letters.

Written by Edward Hatton, who is best known for this work. He worked as a surveyor for a fire insurance company in London.
