What Our Customers Say...

Description

Leather Binding, Rebound

John Cowell's important law dictionary.

Originally published in 1607, this 'Interpreter' became the standard reference work on the law at the time. It was, in fact, one of the first English law dictionaries.

In the work, Cowell exalted the king's prerogative. He was subsequently prosecuted before the House of Commons, but was saved from imprisonment by James I.

This was an augmented and improved edition published a century after the first edition.

Cowell was a Jurist of the Tudor and early Stuart era, best known for this work.
