In five volumes, uncommon to see as a set.

An interesting work on British law, collecting law reports from cases heard at the King's-Bench and Queen's Bench from the reign of Charles II through to 1702.

Offering a fascinating insight into seventeenth and early eighteenth century law in Britain.

Volume I, the second edition, published in 1700, covering cases from the reign of Charles II. ESTC citation number R215207.

Volume II, the first edition, published in 1698, covering casing from the 26th to 30th years of the reign of Charles II. ESTC citation number R171454.

Volume III, the first edition, published in 1700, covering the last years of the reign of Charles II, the reign of James II, and the first two years of the reign of William and Mary. ESTC citation number R222186.

Volume IV, the first edition, published in 1703, covering the 2nd to 6th years of William and Mary's reign, and 7th year of William's reign. ESTC citation number T95794.

Volume V, the first edition, published in 1711, covering the 7ths to 11th years of the reign of William. ESTC citation number N18672. 

Cases detailed in this volume include Sams versus Dangerfield, Ironmongers Company versus Naylor, Cromwell versus Grunsdale, Harris versus Pitt, Rex versus Chesterfield, Wentworth versus Earl Strafford, Earl Yarmouth versus Dorrell, and more.

Condition

In a full calf binding, Volumes II, III, IV, and V are rebacked. Extenerally, generally smart. Some light marks to the boards and spines. Minor bumping to the extremities. Light rubbing to the boards and the spines. Discolouration to the spines and extremities. A slightly larger mark to the rear board of Volume I. Prior owner's ink to the spine of Volumes I and IV. Joints of Volume I are cracked. Volume I is neatly repaired to the head of the spine, repairing loss to the leather. A little loss of leather to the rear board of Volume II and to the boards of Volume III, IV, and V. A small amount of loss to the raised bands of Volume III. Hinges of Volume I starting but firm. Front hinge of Volume I is starting but firm. Stamp to the paste downs and endpapers. Neat repair to the front endpaper and front free of Volume III. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spotting. Pages of Volume I are a little more age-toned. Neat repair to the front endpaper, front free, and leaves A2 and A3 of Volume I. Loss and wear to the top edge of Volume I, resulting in loss to the top margin of pages 25 to 225 of Volume I, no loss of text. The occasional ink note to the text, prior owner's ink to the title pages. Stamp to the title pages.
