In Latin. A very scarce work. This work is an octavo, with the signatures running as [3], +3-+6, A-V8, +4, A-Z8, Aa-Ii8, Kk6, a8, b5. Collated from WorldCat, complete. Two volumes in one, with a separate title page to Volume II, 'Moralis Explicatio Complectens Tractatus Tres: De Sacramentis, De Contractibus, De Censuris et Irregularitate'. Half title present. Errors in pagination, no. 207-208 omitted. Bound in vellum. Printed in double columns. An explanation, exploration, and analysis of the Ten Commandments, discussing theology and Christian ethics. The author discusses the Ten Commandments in relation to how one should follow them and honour them with their religion. The Jesuits are a religious order of the Catholic Church, headquartered in Rome, founded in 1540. By Tommaso Tamburini, an Italian Jesuit moral theologian, who was born in Caltanissetta in Sicily. He entered the Society of Jesus when he was fifteen years old. He was a professor of philosophy for four years, of dogmatic theology for seven years, of moral theology for seventeen years, and was also a rector of various colleges for thirteen years. It's stated that Tamburini was severe towards himself, though he took a milder approach towards others when deciding cases on conscience. Condition

In a full vellum binding. Externally, generally smart. Some discolouration to the boards and spine, as is usual with vellum. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the spine. Some loss to the head and tail of the spine and to the raised bands. Light marking to the boards and spine. A couple of small tidemarks to the front board. Minor bumping to the extremities. Cracks to the front joint. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Stamp to the recto to the front endpaper. Ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some occasional spotting. Some very light tidemarks. Small chips to the margins of some pages, never affecting text.
