What Our Customers Say...
Description
A scarce early edition of the work, first published in 1680. Collated, lacking the frontispiece and front blank. With a page of publisher's advertisements to the rear of the work. From the library of noted collector Allen Freer with his bookplate to the front pastedown. Contemporary ink inscriptions to front pastedown and front free endpaper. Gilbert Burnet was a Scottish philosopher and historian, closely associated with the Whig party. This work was in part due to the close friendship between the Earl of Rochester and Burnet, and includes a number of religious discussions had between the two men prior to the Earl of Rochester's death in 1680. This is of particular note due to his religious conversion shortly before his death.
