Volume I only of a very scarce two volume first edition. The second volume - not present here - also included the author's work on tropical disease, 'Traite des Maladies Particulieres'.

Lacking the title page, and front and rear free endpapers. Retaining the original half title.
In this fascinating work, the author describes his travels in the East Indies, India, and Indonesia in the late seventeenth century. He worked as a ship's surgeon, and landed in Daman, Portuguese India, in 1673, where he had serious problems with the Portuguese Inquisition.
The work of French physician and writer Charles Dellon, best known for his 1687 work ' Relation de l'Inquisition de Goa'.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Major loss to tail of front board, with leather detached front the board. Loss of leather to back strip tail. Front joint starting, and held by cords only. Rear hinge strained, but firmly held. Front and rear free endpapers removed, with evidence of former owner's inscription. Internally, firmly bound. Lacking title page. Ink spot and handling marks to half title. Tide mark to half title and following leaf. Pages age toned, with significant handling marks throughout. With the odd minor ink mark.
