A blank verse historical tragedy by John Denham, for which the author made his reputation. This was Denham's only play.

This poem deals with the tragic happenings at the Persian court of King Abbas.

Denham was a notable poet and courtier of the Stuart era, serving as the Surveyor of the King's Works. Today he is better known for his poem 'Coopers-Hill'.

Condition

Rebound in a cloth binding. Externally, smart. Spine is a little faded. A few light marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned with some spots, and a few small tide marks, mostly to the first few pages. A little closely cropped to the head of the textblock, affecting only the running title with a little loss to some of the leaves to the running title only. Very small tape repair to the final leaf. Mispaginating with two leaves paginated 43/44.
