Illustrated, with sixteen plates and woodcut head and tail pieces. 

ESTC reference no R223980. 

From the library of the Crum Ewings and the Hamiltons of Lowood house.

Former owner's inscription to the title page, Guil Willis dated 1667.

This textbook was first issued in 1629, brought Comenius great provenance, and was soon translated into European languages. In this work, Comenius produces a new encyclopaedic and linguistic system. 

Scarce with all the plates.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, rubbed to the spine. Front board is detached but present. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional light spots to pages.
