With the bookplate of Jonh Monins to the front pastedown. The Monins family are mentioned in this book, as they are a family that can trace their history in East Kent back to the time of William the Conqueror. Historically, several members of the Monins family have been MPs for Dover including Simon Monin in 1368, John Monin in the time of Richard II and Thomas Monin in 1413. The family owned Ringwould House, a large manor in the parish of the same name until the late 20th century. The family still hold the Lordship of the Manor to this day. By descent this particular book also belonged to Ian Monins of Rinwould House, who moved to Jersey. There is a letter from an antiquarian bookseller addressed to him in Jersey regarding a copy of this book they had which may interest him 'although it occured to me that you may already have the book'.
