Erasmus is commonly regarded as one of the greatest scholars of the northern Renaissance, and a noted Humanist. This is his Colloquies, or his Colloquia which is a collection of dialogues on a wide variety of subjects. They were written in an easy style and humour so that students could understand them.
Condition
In a contemporary calf binding. Externally, worn. Front board is detached but present. Split to the rear joint. Former owner's inscription to the first few and last few leaves. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned. Contemporary owner's inscriptions to the first and last few pages. Otherwise, just the occasional light spots to pages.
