Publius Cornelius Tacitus was a Roman historian and politician, generally regarded to be one of the greatest historians of the Roman era. He was active during the Silver Age of Latin literature known for his Latin writing style of brevity and compactness.

These discourses offer an interesting insight into the life and work of the important Roman figure.

Originally written in Italian by Virgilio Malvezzi, a seventeenth century historian and essayist.

This edition translated by Sir Richard Baker.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing and marks to the boards and spine. Spine is a little discoloured. Light bumping to the spine and extremities. Small cracks to the joints. A little loss of leather to the rear board. Boards are a little bowed. A little worming to the rear paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spots. Ink to the title page. Title page is a little edge worn. Faint tidemark to the edge of the first few pages. A little wear to thee last few pages, with a closed tear to the last leaf.
