A scarce edition.

The poetry of Hesiod, printed here in Greek and Latin on facing pages, printed in Amsterdam in 1632.

Hesiod was an ancient Greek poet, thought to be active around the same time as Homer, around 750 and 650 BC. 

His poetry have become a major source on Greek mythology, as well as early economic thoughts, archaic Greek astronomy, and ancient time-keeping.

Including an index of the Greek words.

Condition

In the original vellum binding. Externally, boards are a little discoloured with some marks, as is usual with vellum binding. Front hinge is failed, backstrip detached, rear board held by the rear pastedown only. Rear hinge may fail with further handling. Light bumping to the spine and extremities. Some spots to the boards. Prior owner's ink to the verso to the front blank and front endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned with some spots. Prior owner's ink inscription to the title page.
