What Our Customers Say...

Description

Leather Binding

A Latin edition of 'The Conspiracy of Catiline', a history chronicling the attempts to overthrow the government, attempted by the bankrupt aristocrat Catiline in 63 BC.

Over time this work became a symbol of the moral and social decadence of the ruling classes of Rome.

Sallust presents Catiline as a foe of the law, order, and morality. It is also clear that Sallust was clearly concerned about the moral decline of Rome during his lifetime.

This was Sallust's first history.

Ink annotations to the front pastedown.

Paginated to the recto of each page only.
