What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated

Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management was first published in book form in 1861, after appearing periodically in 'The Englishwoman's Domestic Magazine'. The work was incredibly popular, and was an important tool used in middle-class households. A comprehensive guide, the work touches upon the management of staff, buying produce and proper etiquette. The work provides menus, recipes and cooking tips, whilst also breaking down the duties and requirements of domestic staff, from sick-nurse to footman. After her death, Beeton's guidebook continued in its popularity and saw countless edition and revision throughout the following centuries. Such a popular work, the name Beeton has become synonymous with the domestic setting. Illustrated with 13 coloured plates, two of which are folding plates, 68 full page illustrations and numerous vignettes. Collated complete.
