Description

Illustrated, Original Binding

With sixty-two engraved plates (collated, complete for the number of volumes present). Including a complete essay on his genius and character by Professor Wilson. John Wilson was the publisher who first issued Burns' Poems, Chiefly in the Scottish Dialect in 1786. Incomplete (containing half volumes I and II, which form volume I, and half volume III, which forms the first half of volume II) and missing the second half of volume II.

Condition

In green cloth bindings with gilt tooling. Externally, sound, though with wear to the extremities, including some slight loss. Five hinges tender. Internally, generally firmly bound although strained in places, with endpapers of volume II working loose. Pages are spotted throughout.
