Description

First Edition, Leather Binding

Three volumes containing six of the 44 monthly editions of the Anecdotes; Enterprise, Captivity, The Senate, Conviviality, Ingenuity, and Integrity. Supposedly written by "Sholto and Reuben Percy, brothers of the Benedictine monastery of Mount Benger" the Anecdotes are in fact penned by Sir John Byerley and Thomas Byerley. Each volume contains an engraved portrait frontispiece and title page, and a dedication page from the Percy brothers complete with facsimile signature. Three of a total of 20 volumes. First edition.

Condition

In handsome half calf bindings. Externally, generally smart. Boards are a trifle rubbed. 3 out of 6 joints starting. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to first and last few pages. Otherwise clean, bright copies with only occasional handling marks.
